The Cyprus Chamber of Fine Arts (EKATE) with the support of the Ministry of Education and Culture (Cultural Services) presents a Contemporary Art Exhibition entitled: The Art of Denial. The exhibition will be opened by the Mayor of Paphos Mr. Savvas Vergas, on Saturday 17th March 2012, at 7:00 p.m., at Haroupomylos Art Gallery, 51 Apostolou Pavlou Avenue, Kato Paphos.
The Art of Denial exhibition, which is curated by Tatiana Ferahian, has been initiated under the concept of using the power of art to drive home social messages. Its goal is to challenge local artists to define their role in the struggle for progressive social change and at the same time to invite and encourage the general public to encounter, react to and connect with the artworks and the artists who created it.
30 artists have been selected by members of EKATE Board Committee and they are:
ANASTASIA MINA, ANNA ALEXANDROU, GEORGE ACHILLEOS, GEORGE GAVRIEL, DESPINA FYSENTZOU, ELENA KOYMA, ELENI THEODOULOU, ELENA CHRISTOU, ELENA CHRYSANTHOU, ELLI LESTAS, EVGENIA VASILOUDE, EFI SAVVIDES, THEODORA FOUTROU, KATIA SAVVIDOU, KYRIAKI COSTA, MAYIA HADJIGEORGIOU, MARIA IOANNOU, MARIA PAPACHARALAMBOUS, MARIA HADJIDEMETRIOU, MARIANNA CONSTANTI, MARINA IOANNIDOU, MIRIAM Mc CONNON, RINOS STEFANI, SAKIS DORITIS, SASA SAVIC, SIMONI SYMEONIDOU, SOPHIA PAPACOSTA, SYLVIA NICOLAIDES, TATIANA SOTEROPOULOU and CHIAKI KAMIKAWA.
The performance titled “Session 1” by Elena Kotasvili and Loucas Ioannou, will also be presented in four parts during the opening night of the exhibition.

The artists’ works, also presented in a full colour catalogue, will be available at the opening night.
